Some dude apparently brought his 1935 MG P-Lester Special (his what?) out to an autocross. And gave it the freaking beans. Supposedly someone who was there asked him why he would drive that. The owner said, "It's a race car, that's what it's for." Totally hetero man crush level 9000.

It looks like a surprised cartoon lobster.

Oh man! It looks like the whole thing is swinging around his hips. It looks incredibly agile. He gets the point of autocross. He wins at life. Seriously, thank you for showing this. I have my first event of the year next week, so this is truly inspirational.

That looks and sounds like an absolute bucket of fun.

Not much you can do with a runway shaped lot besides out and back courses.

That thing was going a lot faster than I would've expected. Awesome.

Best answer ever. I was smiling ear to ear that entire video, I can only imagine what he was like under the helmet.

Maybe my region was blessed with great course designers. We had a lot of Chicago boxes, decreasing radius turn arounds and some pivot cones.

I feel like at points of the course, where people were watching was really dangerous. Like on the outs of corners, where someone could oversteer/spin out and just kill them.

I think this is the best thing I've seen all week. Probably all year.

Me too. For a serious lack of money.

That's me!!! Yep, I've autocrossed this car a few times and have vintage raced. A friend let me know this was posted on Oppo/Jalopnik which I read daily - just hadn't noticed this article!

I know old cars tended to have big steering wheels so that makes me wonder: how big are those gauges!? They look like they should be hanging around Flavor Flav's neck!

Oh, it's also not just a race car, but we use it for food runs, rallies, and trips to the liquor store.

I'd argue he won at life when he was able to buy the car. What he did with from then is just a gauge of his personality

This looks like the most fun body roll that has ever happened.

Awesome! thanks for sharing. what's the hardest part about driving this? does it over steer wildly? is the steering slow or anything? what's it like??

That was absolutely fantastic! Love the sound of it.

Holy crap, that's my local autocross location. I hope I bump into this guy, that's awesome.

My region's designer is a fan of slaloms of decreasing length. Always a big challenge for me.

The hardest part about driving it is that there are no synchro's on any gears and a huge space between the 2nd and 3rd gears. It actually steers very quickly, almost like a go-kart - well, like an 80-year old go kart. The engine is 939cc but overhead cam and built with modern-tech on the inside to be reliable and give more power.

That sound is definitely up there in my favourite engine notes I've ever heard.

If I ever see you in person, I'll buy the beer if you talk my ear of about the car.

You're running today and I'm not at home or I'd be there. :( You're even running pretty good times, nice driving!
